Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010

The Danish Beer Enthusiasts are the hosts of an excellent beer festival in Copenhagen. With around 70 exhibitors and a range of 700 beers, this is an excellent opportunity to taste som amazing craft beer. I didn’t get the chance to go this weekend, these are from the 10th Beer Festival last year.

Mikkeller 黑 is a wonderful imperial stout with a cool label. 黑 means black, in both Chinese and Japanese.

The poster and program cover is designed by illustrator Mads Berg. Talented guy, go check out his work!

The festival took place in the former Carlsberg Brewery.

Awesomest Mikkeller Bar was newly opened at the time.

Thailand Once More

April 2010: Island hopping with Koh Lanta, Koh Ngai and Koh Lipe. One night in Trang before taking the night train to Hua Hin for Songkran. The plan was to skip Bangkok altogether, but we got stuck there an extra 5 days due to the ash cloud.

This was my first office as a freelancer. The studio was shared with 8 others and located in the historic buildings at Bryggen that are a World Heritage. Here are some results of playing around with a camera last autumn.

Roskilde in July 2010 was my 7th year at this wonderful festival in Denmark. Lots of music and lots of beer, not so much photography. But here are som snapshots anyway.

Summer of 2006: After Warsaw and Kraków, the night train took us to the Hungarian capital. We saw lots of Budapest – like cobblestone & castle hill, the Danube, Széchenyi thermal bath and an Italian place (last image) with the totally awesomest pizza and largest dessert portions I have ever seen…

Summer of 2006: After Warsaw, we hopped on a train to venture further south in Poland.

Kraków has Europe’s largest medieval town square: Rynek Główny, and a lovely Old Town. More wandering around Wawel Castle and the Jewish Ghetto, one of Nazi Germany’s main ghettos during WW2. We had Polish ‘peasant grub’ at Chłopskie Jadło and stayed a night at Nathan’s Villa.

Relentless Reykjavik

March 2009: 2 1/2 weeks at Hat Choeng Mon on Koh Samui and three days in Bangkok.

Ang Thong Marine National Park with kayaking, snorkelling and cool scenery!

I was on Thailand for three weeks, but didn’t really do all that much photographing. This trip had a different main focus, which is well documented on the two following photos.

Holiday reads were The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani, Tett inntil dagene by Mustafa Can, Kineseren by Henning Mankell & the inspiring travel book by Torbjørn Færøvik Buddha’s Children – A Journey Among People. Færøvik is a wonderful storyteller who shares loads of facts about Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Burma. Not only does he manage to make you want to learn even more, he also makes you want to travel the world.

Chinatown in Bangkok, where we stayed at the amazingly cool Shanghai Mansion.

Bangkok is one of the few places in the world where nobody seems to mind if you set up a bar or restaurant on top of a skyskraper.

Cocktails at the Moon Bar at Vertigo with a jaw dropping view from the 61st floor. I really recommend doing this, but remember to dress up and leave the sandals behind for this.
